    What is quantitative tightening (QT)?

    Short answer

The opposite of QE — the central bank shrinks its balance sheet, letting bonds mature without replacing them. This drains liquidity.

    Why it matters

QT tends to raise long-term rates and puts pressure on risky assets over time.
